Shortest hike to Machu Picchu

The shortest hike to Machu Picchu is the trek from Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. Aguas Calientes is the closest town to Machu Picchu and can be reached by train from Cusco or Ollantaytambo.

From Aguas Calientes, visitors can hike up to Machu Picchu via a set of stairs and a steep trail that takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.
This hike is known as the “Machu Picchu climb” or the “Inca stairs,” and it can be a challenging ascent due to the steep incline and high altitude. However, it is a popular option for visitors who want to save time and money compared to other longer hikes such as the Inca Trail.

It is important to note that visitors will still need to purchase a Machu Picchu entrance ticket and book in advance to ensure availability. Visitors should also be prepared for the physical demands of the hike, including the high altitude and steep incline. It is recommended to acclimatize to the altitude beforehand and take breaks as needed.
